Students apply these skills by flying the high-performance X-12 Triad, the Academy’s experimental aircraft, offering them hands-on comprehension of the principles of flight thrust, hovering and target drops. The Academy builds heart-pumping, adrenaline-filled story line, which brings life to the mission as if the students are in a real-world scenario. Through an established base of knowledge, students will work in a team squadron format to collaborate and complete missions. Students can participant in a three day “cruise” program aboard the world’s largest simulated aircraft carrier. Looking for something a bit different? Spend three days on a Simulated Aircraft Carrier Students will discover areas such as robotics, rocketry, thermal protection systems and space habitats and go behind-the-scenes at NASA Johnson Space Centre and the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory, the world’s largest underwater training facility. The program here focuses on teamwork, problem solving, communication and engineering solutions to real-life space related situations. Space Center U is a challenging five-day program offered year-round and is the gate-way to the Johnson Space Centre. Space Centre Houston – Space Centre University, Texas Close proximity to Orlando with its vast array of activities is a huge advantage here. The 5 day Space Camp program includes the Astronaut Training Experience (mission simulation including launching, landing and walking on Mars), the Mars Base 1 program (travel to Mars and work through the challenges of living on the Martian surface including a spacewalk in a microgravity experience), hearing from an Astronaut and a team Engineering Design Process challenge. Unlike the Huntsville program, this Space Camp allows flexibility in a 5 day program, 3 day program and even hour long programs.
